About Pepper
Pepper, our Kunekune pig at The Vintage Village, is the gentle giant of the farm. Not everyone falls in love with Pepper at first sight—but it doesn’t take long. With his wonky grin, expressive face, and wonderfully goofy personality, Pepper has a way of winning everyone over.
As one of our friendly Kunekune pigs, Pepper loves attention and is never one to turn down a good head scratch. When he’s especially happy, he’ll happily flop onto his side and soak up every bit of fuss you can give him. If you’re looking for a quiet pig, Pepper certainly isn’t it—he has plenty to say and isn’t shy about letting everyone know when he’s ready for treats or a cuddle.
Despite his unusual looks, Pepper has become one of the biggest personalities at The Vintage Village. His playful nature, endless curiosity, and love of human company make him a favorite with visitors of all ages. Whether he’s greeting people at the fence or simply enjoying the sunshine, Pepper always manages to bring a smile to everyone’s face.
Kunekune pigs are well known for their gentle temperament, making them wonderful additions to small farms and homesteads. Pepper is a perfect example of the breed’s friendly nature, and he loves spending time meeting visitors who stop by to say hello. 💡Did you Know?
Kunekune pigs were prized by the Māori for their docile nature, meat, and fat. The word “KuneKune” is Māori for “fat and round”. And the fleshy protuberances hanging from their jaws were called “piri piri” (what we now call wattles).
